BlackBerry Launches Global Initiative for Women - CIO Latin America - Latin America CIO

The Global Creative Director BlackBerry , launched the new BlackBerry Fellows Program the first step in its global initiative designed for women to inspire women to join and develop their careers in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM acronym). The program was introduced in BlackBerry Live in Orlando, Florida.

BlackBerry Scholars Program Program provide full scholarships and tuition for four years to outstanding women seeking accredited universities graduate in STEM fields with an interest or particular aptitude in the field of mobile computing. This scholarship program is the first step in the long-term commitment and strategy BlackBerry multilevel-young women at every stage of their education from high school to university-emerge through work.

While many more women enroll and graduate from college than men, only 25% of IT jobs in the U.S. are women, and 56% of these women finally leaving the field of technology to pursue other careers. Because more than 55% of BlackBerry customers are women BlackBerry aims to defend this generation of women leaders to achieve their ambitions in this highly competitive industry.
