The BlackBerry Messenger will be a platform - The Universe

BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) has over 60 million monthly active users, with more than 51 million people who use the service for an average of 90 minutes per day.

BBM

customers sent and received more than 10 million messages a day, almost double of messages per user per day compared to other mobile messaging applications.

addition, almost half of the BBM messages are read within 20 seconds of being received, indicating a real commitment with system users. However, until now the service only served to interconnect users of BlackBerry devices, leaving out the millions of users of iPhone and Android phones, you had to use applications such as Google Talk or WhatsApp.

Now BlackBerry announced that from mid-year, BBM will be available to users of iOS 6 and Android 4.0, which will allow BlackBerry users to expand their connections to include friends, family and colleagues on other mobile platforms.

In the initial version, the iOS and Android users can enjoy the immediacy of BBM chats, including chats with several people as well as the ability to share pictures and voice notes and participate in BBM groups, allowing BBM customers create groups of up to 30 people.

BBM is highly appreciated by the users by characteristics such as the status of “D” and “R” (given and received, for short), which appear in chats and allows people to know for sure if your message has been delivered and read.

also offers customers a high level of control and privacy on the way contacts are added to the list to relate to them, because the invitation works in two ways.

iOS and Android users can add contacts via PIN, email, SMS or by scanning the QR code, regardless of platform. The Android also can connect through a NFC compatible device.
