[20/05/2013] BlackBerry announced plans for its mobile social network BlackBerry Messenger (BBM), is available for iOS and Android users by mid-year, with planned support for iOS6 and Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) or higher, all subject to the approval of Apple App Store and Google Play.

BBM has over 60 million monthly active users, with more than 51 million people use BBM for an average of 90 minutes per day. BBM customers sent and received more than ten million messages a day, almost double of messages per user per day compared to other mobile messaging applications. Almost half of the BBM messages are read within 20 seconds of being received, indicating a real commitment with BBM customers.
If approved by Apple and Google, the BBM application will be available as a free download from Apple App Store SM and Google Play store.

BBM Channels added that allows individuals and groups to create a dedicated channel and share information and updates with the immediacy it offers BBM. “ BBM customers worldwide will be able to connect and share information, talk about themselves on their channel, or join your favorite communities and share their experiences in the channel with your BBM contacts “ said Bocking.
BBM Among the features mentioned by the executive Channels are:

: Create, edit and publish in an instant, with no limit on the number of followers you can have in the channel. The channel can be operated from a BlackBerry smartphone or web.
* Discoverchannels: Channels BBM includes a carousel that allows to discover new channels. You can share a channel invitations, inviting a BBM chat, and people can add or invite using the QR code PIN or channel.
* View: You can view the profile of each BBM Channel you decide to follow.
* Subscribe: Subscribe to a channel allows the channel owner to send updates timely and relevant, giving instant access to subscriber news, offers, events or whatever you want to communicate. Subscribers can choose to receive notifications when new content is published.
* Participate: You can participate and engage in conversations with their loved ones and communities to “ ” and express that “ Likes” a publication of the channels to which you subscribe. Channel owners have the option to chat one-on-one directly to a subscriber.
