BlackBerry, surprise on Wall Street - FORTUNE

MEXICO CITY (CNNExpansión) – BlackBerry shares are the best performers in 2014 due to growing optimism and investor buying to cover positions.

the Toronto Stock Exchange roles were more fell last year, and so far 2014 accumulates a gain of 37.7%. Tuesday closed at C $ 10.88.

While on Wall Street, titles accumulated a 33.4% advance in 2014, after closing Tuesday at $ 9.93, a gain of 9.36% compared to Monday’s close.

“I think most people who operate with actions on a daily basis do not with a view to the basics, rather they are following news of what will happen in one to two months. And believe that developments probably more positive than negative in the short term, “said analyst James Cordwell Atlantic Analyst.

Much of the optimism stems from the completion of an agreement for the production of devices including pacts with FIH Mobile in December. The agreement reduces the risk of the company having to bear huge losses smartphones not sold.

During the three months ended November 2013, the manufacturer of smartphones had a loss of 4,400 million dollars, besides suffering a cut of 4,500 staff, more than a third of its template.

The Pentagon said last week that BlackBerry phones represent about 98% of the devices that have received support under a program to achieve greater mobile access to DoD personnel.

“Any advance is based on BlackBerry optimism about the future, so given the new focus of BlackBerry sales to Government and businesses, this news Pentagon is definitely positive,” said Morningstar analyst Brian Colello.

“The big question is how many more of these deals are in the pipeline and if they are sufficient to make the business sustainable? Such is still the big question,” he said.
