BlackBerry recruits exejecutivo Sony - FORTUNE

TORONTO (Reuters) – BlackBerry hired an executive from Sony Ericsson to chair his deficit appliance business, a position that requires a strong dose sales leadership for companies and consumers to recover tempted by rivals.Ron Louks

took over as president of emerging devices and solutions, the phone maker said Monday in a statement.

The company said Louks adds from OpenNMS Group, where he worked as head of strategy for the American unit of HTC Corp, was also head of technology Sony Ericsson, a joint venture then bought by Sony Corp.

“I’m sure Ron will bring skills and knowledge that will make an immediate impact for BlackBerry and for our customers worldwide,” said CEO of the Canadian company, John Chen, according to a statement.

BlackBerry

pioneered the high-end phone, but lost most of the market to Apple’s iPhone and devices using Google Android technology.

The Canadian company has since changed its focus from the consumer market to businesses, governments and other organizations.
