The company said Louks adds from OpenNMS Group, where he worked as head of strategy for the American unit of HTC Corp, was also head of technology Sony Ericsson, a joint venture then bought by Sony Corp.
“I’m sure Ron will bring skills and knowledge that will make an immediate impact for BlackBerry and for our customers worldwide,” said CEO of the Canadian company, John Chen, according to a statement.
BlackBerrypioneered the high-end phone, but lost most of the market to Apple’s iPhone and devices using Google Android technology.
