Sabadell, Telefonica and BlackBerry launch an NFC payment system - ITespresso.es

Banco Sabadell, Telefonica and BlackBerry have launched a pilot payment ‘contactless’ (without physical contact) with mobile phones equipped with NFC . The objective of this test is to promote the modernization of electronic payments, seeking new ways to simplify and streamline the transactions between consumers and merchants.

Participants in this pilot can now pay for your purchases without his wallet with a telephone, thanks to financial VISA card integrated into the phone’s SIM card. This new technology allows for increased speed and security of payments, as it only requires the phone to point of sale (POS) payment is made instantly.

Customers receive a kit NFC made up a BlackBerry Curve , with integrated NFC technology (which allows safe operations) as well as the new application Portfolio , developed by Telefónica, and SIM with advanced protection measures and storage of financial data provided by VISA card.

Telefónica Wallet application is a new solution that provides greater control over the cards, it makes it possible, completely online, various configurations and perform financial transactions on the card as well as knowing their status at all times.

These NFC smartphones can be used in any establishment that has a Contactless POS. Last year, Banco Sabadell started to implement contactless technology in all POS terminals in shops and establishments that are part of their clientele, both installing new terminals and adapting existing ones. This pilot is a further step in the expansion of contactless payment technology the bank.
